The outtakes of 'Lawdy, Miss Clawdy'
and 'Shake, Rattle And Roll' run 1% too fast
on There's Always Me Volume 1 and Vol. 3,
~3% too fast on I Beg Of You, ~1% too
slow on The Teenage Rage and 1.8% too
slow on Totally Stung. All of these
have been re-equalized very differently. Takes 4-6
of 'Lawdy, Miss Clawdy' on Totally Stung may have a little too much high-end compared to
midrange and bass, but still has far better signal
and less artifacts than the others.
Take 2 of 'Lawdy, Miss Clawdy' was probably
erased or taped over. The remaining part of Take
2 on FTD's Elvis Presley, the Legacy set Young
Man With The Big Beat (not listed) and the Memphis
Recording Service release New York - RCA Studio
1 The Complete Sessions is different to the remaining
part of Take 2 on Unsurpassed Masters,
indicating that Unsurpassed Masters has edited the part of Take 2.
The overdubbed master of 'Shake, Rattle And
Roll' on the 50s Box suffers from generation
loss and runs about 1% too slow (should be key
of E).
The overdubbed master of 'Shake, Rattle And
Roll' is edited (second Verse: the first "Shake'
rattle and roll" is replaced by second "Shake'
rattle and roll" of that chorus, third verse:
fourth "Shake'
rattle and roll" is replaced
by second "Shake'
rattle and roll" of
that chorus).
The Shake Records fraud Tiger
Man Volume 1 includes Take 12 (LFS) of 'Shake,
Rattle And Roll', but it is listed as Take
4. (The right channel is mastered far above the
0 dB limit as well, with clipped samples as result.)
Thanks to John Szabanowicz for pointing out
the differences on Take 2 of 'Lawdy, Miss Clawdy'.
The complete session is presented in it's entirity,
and perfectly, on the Follow That Dream release
of Elvis Presley.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
