All songs were recorded in binaural.
According to Gordon Stoker, Elvis played piano
on Take 1 of '(There'll Be) Peace In The Valley (For Me)'. The piano
playing is actually very different from the other
takes of the song, so is most likely true.
An edited (3:08) version of '(There'll Be) Peace In The Valley (For Me)',
which omitted the ten second intro, was released
in 1987 on the BMG Ariola release The Definitive
Gospel Album.
Originally, the master of 'That's When Your
Heartaches Begin' was listed in the session
logs as being just Take 7, and not being spliced
with Take 14.
An edited (2:30) version of 'Take My Hand,
Precious Lord', with omitted verse ("When
the darkness appears and the night draws near,
and the day is past and gone..."), was released
in 1987 on the BMG Ariola release The Definitive
Gospel Album.
The re-recordings of '(There'll Be) Peace In The Valley (For Me)' and 'Take My Hand, Precious Lord' can found on the deluxe edition of the 2017 album Elvis: Christmas With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which contained Elvis' original vocals but with new backings by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The standard CD release of Elvis: Christmas With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra did not contain these tracks.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
Thanks to Adrian V Stokes regarding the edited
versions of songs on the BMG Ariola set of Definitive albums.
