The first few guitar notes were omitted from the start of the LP version of 'Lover Doll'. Where the undubbed EP version has the guiter intro twice, the album
version has the intro only once.
On the CD Elvis Presley - As He Was Meant
To Be Heard Volume 3 there is what's listed
as a stereo version of 'Lover Doll'. This
is actually nothing of the sort - It's the LP
and single versions of the song (undubbed and
overdubbed) mixed together in two separate channels,
giving a fake stereo effect!
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
Thanks to Kevan Budd for take information and for the drums overdub on 'Lover Doll'.
