The running title of this movie at this time was Black Star instead of Flaming Star.
The movie version of 'Summer Kisses, Winter Tears' was recorded as follows:
Take 7 of 'Summer Kisses, Winter Tears' was dubbed down to a rhythm track by eliminating Elvis' and The Jordanaires' vocals from the multi-track tape (as much as could be eliminated) and leaving just the backing track.
Elvis then did a new vocal overdub to this guide track, of which three takes were completed, with Take 1 being picked as the master vocal.
Drums (bongos) and maracas were then overdubbed to Elvis' vocal overdub, with the bongos and maracas continuing on for another minute after Elvis stops singing.
What can be heard in the movie at around 42 minutes are the bongos and maracas after Elvis stops singing, with Elvis' singing part being cut from the movie, where Elvis is sitting around with the
indians smoking a peace pipe.
Thanks to Kevan Budd and Ernst Jørgensen for information regarding this overdub session.
