'I've Lost You' is not listed in Sessions
III as having backup vocals overdubbed on June
22 but the master contain backup vocals as well
as Brass and Strings overdubs. The book Day By Day by Ernst Jørgensen
and Peter Guralnick, as well as RCA's own single listing notice lists July 14 as the date
when the single 'I've Lost You' / 'The Next Step
Is Love' was shipped to suppliers, so this song must have had backup
vocals overdubbed before then!
'How The Web Was Woven', 'Stranger In
The Crowd' and 'It Ain't No Big Thing (But It's Growing)'
are not listed in Sessions III as having backup
vocals overdubbed on June 22 or September 21,
but the masters contain female backup vocals as
well as brass and strings overdubs. June 22 would
be a likely date for backup vocal overdubs as
The Jordanaires were present on September 21 but
are not present on the final overdubbed masters.
'Only Believe' is
not listed in Sessions III as being
overdubbed on this date, but the 16-track tape log shows that two sets of backup vocals were overdubbed, so this date would be most likely when the first backup vocals were overdubbed.
