Tape reel #4 from this session is missing, and
this is where outtakes of 'I'll Take You Home
Again Kathleen', if any, would have been sitting.
It's also where the story of Ivory Joe Hunter's
'This Old World Is A-Might Lonesome' fits.
Both Hunter's widow, and his song publisher, claims
that Elvis recorded this song along with the other
piano songs. However, they may just have been
told that he was planning to record this, and
as so often, Elvis changed his mind.
The excerpt of 'Listen To The Bell' from
before Take 4 of 'A Thing Called Love' can
be heard edited in before Take 9 of 'It's Only
Love' (May 20) on
Essential Elvis Volume 4.
The dialogue from before Take 6 of 'A
Thing Called Love' ("Went back to Sun
Records...") can be heard edited in before
'The Lord's Prayer' (May
16) on Essential Elvis Volume 4.
The same excerpt of 'Listen To The Bell' from
before Take 4 of 'A Thing Called Love' can
be heard edited in after Take 3 of 'A Thing Called Love' on the Sony 4xCD set Elvis Back In Nashville, along with the "Went back to Sun Records" dialogue from Take 6.
Sessions III states that the undubbed master
of 'I Will Be True' is featured on the Elvis
Aron Presley box-set, but no overdubs were done for this
song.
An edited version of 'I Will Be True', which
omited the verse from 1:40 - 2:04 was featured
on the cassette only release of the Elvis
Aron Presley box-set.
The master of 'Seeing Is Believing' (without
fade) can be found on the bootleg Keep Rollin'
On where it is incorrectly listed as the
unedited master (Take 2) of 'I've Got Confidence'.
Joseph Tunzi incorrectly lists the master of
'Seeing Is Believing' as being Take 12.
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
All outtakes and undubbed masters used on the Sony 4xCD set Elvis Back In Nashville have been completely remixed and remastered from scratch.
Thanks to Luuk Bonthond regarding extended versions
of songs on the cassette version of Elvis Aron
Presley.
