The piano on 'Bringin' It Back' on the bootleg Christmas
Today is on the right channel and guitar
is on the left, whereas on the FTD classic album of Today it is the other way around. The original vinyl
release of Today we have piano (and guitar at
times) making an appearance on both speakers creating
a mono like feel if it weren't for the stereo
percussion.
On Christmas Today is a different
mix of the undubbed master of 'Pieces Of My
Life' with Elvis' vocals way back and the backing
vocals more up front in the mix.
Nothing is mentionned in Sessions III regarding 'Pieces Of My Life' having the
bass part re-done by Norbert Putnam on April 8,
although it was re-done on that date.
By taking out two of the four channels from the rare Quadraphonic LP of Elvis Today is how the "previously unreleased and undubbed versions" were created on the bootleg Yesterday / Today (Bilko).
In March of 2007, Sony decided to go through all of Elvis' masters. They retransferred everything and remastered all tracks including repairing as many clicks, pops, bad edits and dropouts as they could. They have used these newly mastered recordings on their new releases since 2007 including budget soundtracks, Legacy releases, the 30 disc Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection and the Franklin Mint package.
